Washington, D.C. – NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson issued the following statement on the recent allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh:
“For far too long we’ve seen the majority leadership in Congress pander to the dangerous decisions of the Trump Administration, and the recent allegations against Brett Kavanaugh have only confirmed that enough is enough. Under no circumstances should the Senate Judiciary Committee vote on Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination this week. These allegations directly impact the nominee’s character and fitness to serve on the highest court in the land. This warrants a serious investigation and the Senate should give them the careful consideration they deserve in a fair and impartial manner.”
