Cutting Edge Strategies Employed in Outreach to Infrequent Black Voters
NORTH CAROLINA—(October 25, 2018) In the face of blatant examples of disrespect and voter suppression around the nation, the NAACP is engaging in a groundbreaking data and technology -fueled GOTV campaign to get infrequent Black voters to the polls during midterm elections. In North Carolina, continuous attempts to suppress the Black vote were highlighted by an attempt from the Trump Administration to subpoena the data on over a million voters just 2 months before the midterm elections. These intimidation tactics coupled with normal lower turnout during midterm elections, sets the stage for massive outreach to infrequent voters in North Carolina, a state with the seventh-highest population of Black voters.
