BALTIMORE (March 5, 2020) — Given the serious and rapidly changing nature of the Coronavirus outbreak, the NAACP has instituted an immediate restriction on domestic and international travel for all staff.
“Keeping our valued staff and volunteer community safe and informed is our top priority,” said Derrick Johnson, president and CEO, NAACP. “We must heed the advice of health officials to implement preventative safety measures as such, unless necessary, staff travel will be restricted until further notice.”
The NAACP has assembled a team of management, health, and operations leaders to take proactive steps to ensure preparedness and continuation of local grassroots advocacy. The Association is closely monitoring the development of the outbreak along with updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and will review the travel restriction regularly.
