The NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice (ECJ) Program brought together Black Labor organizers from across the country to discuss how Black Workers can engage in the green energy sector and how to build the new energy economy in equitable ways.

The labor organizers gathered from across the country at the Hilton Garden Inn Raleigh-Durham Research Triangle Park (a black-owned hotel) to talk about how Black Workers are positioned for access, opportunity, job quality, leadership, and democracy in the New Energy Economy.
A sample of the topics the organizers discussed were:
- Current Energy Economy–Black Worker Experience
- Fossil Fuel Industry—Community Experience
- Fossil Fuel Industry, Political Ties, and Civil Rights
- Pathways for Employment and Business Engagement in the New Energy Economy (Education, Training, Certification, Small Business Development, etc.)
- Policies and Practices to Support Black Worker Equity, Inclusion, and Leadership in the New Energy Economy
- Synthesizing a Black Labor Just Transition Statement
