President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh, does not break from the mold of conservative, partisan, and discriminatory politics we have come to expect from this administration. For people of color, women and the LGBT community, a senate confirmation of Kavanaugh is as good as a one-way ticket back to the year 1958.
Throughout Kavanaugh’s career he has opposed laws and agencies that were in place to protect employment conditions, reproductive rights, our environment, affordable healthcare, net neutrality, and consumer protections.
The stakes are too high for our current Senate to confirm Mr. Kavanaugh. NAACP stands firmly in our demand that no nominee should be confirmed until a new Senate is seated in 2019.
