National membership campaign launches just one day after a momentum building midterm election.
BALTIMORE (November 7, 2018) – Just one day after the 2018 midterm elections, NAACP, the nation’s foremost civil rights organization, continues the momentum by launching an ALL IN national membership campaign aimed at mobilizing NAACP units to increase their membership at least 20 percent by its 110th Founders Day observance on February 12, 2019.
The ALL IN campaign charges NAACP units to reach into their communities to activate new members to join the NAACP. The charge is simple: recruit new members, retain returning members and engage all members. The message of the ALL IN national membership campaign is built on this premise: Every generation has its moment. This is ours. This is the moment for the NAACP.
“The current civil rights climate of the nation is unlike those of previous generations,” said Derrick Johnson, NAACP president and CEO, “We have seen a dramatic rise in discriminatory practices and policies. Policies, that threaten civil rights advancements for which we have fought hard. In the face of these overt threats to our rights, our nation is in the middle of a civil rights surge, people of all ages resisting oppression and threats to our rights. The NAACP is in a unique position and will lead the national discourse regarding threats to our civil rights.”
“As NAACP members, we have taken up the call to defend civil rights,” said Andrea Brown Gee, NAACP Vice President of Membership Services and Training, “NAACP exists to advocate for social justice and equality and will continue to lead. In order to be the strongest voice against the threats, we must have a strong and large membership base. By prioritizing the member, we prioritize the community.”
The ALL IN campaign is a national membership campaign; that will launch November 7, 2018. The campaign will include three phases with a concentrated focus in each phase. The campaign will offer incentives to the Units who participate and increase their membership totals by a minimum of 20 percent and to those units who meet and exceed the goal. Prizes will be based on the size and category of the Units.
