Detroit, MI (June 6, 2019) — The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the nation’s premier civil rights organization will bring together hundreds of volunteers for a rally and training in preparation for its 110th Annual Convention in Detroit, July 20-24.
The NAACP will mobilize hundreds of volunteers for training exercises in preparation for its 110th annual convention. The nation’s premier civil rights organization expects between 8-10,000 visitors for its national convention in Detroit. Over five days, the NAACP will hold hundreds of events at the Cobo Center on the waterfront, ranging from policy discussions on the latest political issues, a CEO Roundtable, Presidential Candidates Forum, the NAACP ACT-SO (Academic, Cultural, Technical and Scientific Olympics) final competition and numerous panels and workshops on education and health issues.
Among those in attendance were such notables as Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, attorney and advocate Angela Rye, reporter, and producer Van Lathan, March for Our Lives Speaker Naomi Wadler, former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, the honorable Willie. L. Brown Jr., and many others.
