On Thursday, November 21, the NAACP will host a special town hall to bring attention to the available census jobs at 8:30 PM ET. We are in a fight forward to ensure a complete count through the 2020 Census and learned recently that Black applicants across the Nation are struggling to apply for the 500,000 plus Census Jobs that are critical to the complete count process. The NAACP decided to host an urgent National Tele townhall to lift up the fact that these jobs exist and that the portal to apply closes in a few weeks.
“We want to educate and encourage our leaders, members and partners across the country at the city and state level to promote these jobs as part of the strategy to ensure a complete and fair count in 2020,” said NAACP Civic Engagement VP, Jamal Watkins. “We also want to lift up efforts on the ground like the one in California lead by the State Conference to close the Black application gap we know exist in some state.”

The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people across the country to assist with the 2020 census count, Nearly 500,000 jobs are available that people can take advantage of for 6 months and we need to ensure the African American community is included and does not miss out on this opportunity. They are hiring for a variety of temporary jobs including census takers, recruiting assistants, office staff and supervisory staff.
