Awards Dinner Ended wtih a Special Performance by Ledisi
LOS ANGELES, CA – March 30, 2019 – Winners in over forty categories for the 50th NAACP Image Awards were announced last night during a special non-televised awards dinner at The Beverly Hilton hosted by Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love and Tamera Mowry Housley of The Real, and live-streamed via Facebook. The co-hosts, who doubled as nominees for the evening, took home the award in the Outstanding Talk Series category, for their show The Real, their second win for the show. Presenters for the star-studded event included ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith; actor Marcus Scribner (Blackish); rapper Sage the Gemini; actor Trevor Jackson (Grownish); chef and author, Carla Hall, and actor Roger Guenveur Smith among others. The evening wrapped with a special surprise performance by singer/songwriter, Ledisi.
The awards dinner was a prelude to the live broadcast from the Dolby Theatre which airs on TV One, today, Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 9pm E/8pm C. The live special will hosted by Anthony Anderson. Additionally, prior to the LIVE telecast, TV One will also air the 50th NAACP Image Awards Tribute Special, sponsored by Toyota, immediately preceding the show at 8pm ET/7pm C.

The NAACP Image Awards is the premier multicultural awards show. It celebrates the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film, and also honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors.
Nominees for the NAACP Image Awards are determined by the number of entries received by the deadline. To be eligible, projects must have had a national distribution date between January 1 and December 31, 2018. From those entries, a nominating committee selects five nominees in each of the 56 categories. To determine the winners, the members of the NAACP and general public vote via a secured online site. The results are tabulated by the Image Awards auditors, Bert Smith & Co., and the results are confidential until the envelope is opened LIVE on stage during the TV One telecast.
